 The Only Road  Remakes 2

Remakes 2

Overview

These are a few notes about the songs on my latest "Remakes 2" song compilation. I hate it when I go somewhere and someone is performing at an "open mic night" and they say "This song is on my latest CD", I know it sounds impressive to say, but it's not, you see anyone can now make a CD, even me, so it's not all that impressive, plus are you saying that because you want someone to come up and buy one from you. So anyway I prefer to call them "Song Compilations"

To be with you Tonight

This was my first "blues" song, or should I say bluesy song that kind of is built around traditional blues progression. The original version was tamed down a bit because La Resa said it was too ..... ah..... explicit?

Golly Gee

Written back when I lived in Florida, I rerecorded this one and then redid it again. I am obviously liking acoustic guitar because I put quite a few in this version. This is a hokey song but it's fun to play.

I am Lost

On "I am Lost" I sped up the tempo just a bit and used as many as 4 acoustic guitar parts, giving it less of a country feel and more of a, I can't say "Jazz" but it has a different feel to it. You also swear that there were drums on this mix but there isn't, I was really getting into the second guitar part and was tapping the guitar. I was hoping to have Michael Greenberg on this song with me, but we never seem to be able to get together, he lives about 10 hours away. Written back when Mike and I were in college.

Meter Maid

if you go back to "World Travel Emotions" you hear the original on this. This time I gave it more acoustic guitar and no electric. Missing Drew's guitar leads this time, very noticeable. A nonsense song with a little message, very fun. A song that came to me in a dream.

Razor's Edge

written back in 85' very old but I like this version, didn't use a rhythm track so I was real steady on it. This song is about reincarnation with that in mind you might get something out of it that you hadn't before

Back Home

This is a tired soul tired of tredging through the spiritual journey of life, so as soul, it, gives up and just wants to go home, funny because that's where it was headed the whole time. I gave it a very simple sound this time. I like the traditional "folky" sound that it has almost celtic, almost anyway. Had to brush up on my Harmonica playing. I give Dad credit for teaching me how to play the harmonica, he always had some old ones laying around.

He

This also is one of my favorites, this song captured me, the words came out like a poem. I didn't really know what it was about for a long time. I have decided to dedicate it to all the Moms and Dads that have lost their children in the Iraq war.

She Brings that to me

This is a song for Selea, it has some meaning in it that is very personal and a few might understand. I happen to think this is one of the best songs I have written. It's in open G

For now I'll Go

Written a long time ago, if I could only tell the pain that I had when I wrote this song. I know it's pretty, I don't know how I could write a pretty one when I was so hurt.

Solace from the Pain

This song is for Mom, Sybil. When I wrote this I cried, it has so much feeling in it. I get the most response from this song when I play in public than any other I do.
